Aim

The mission of Artvin Çoruh University Graduate Education Institute is to ensure that graduate students studying in various branches are trained to perform their professions (faculty member, researcher and other) in the best way possible.

Degree to be Earned

Students who successfully complete the program are awarded a Forest Industry Engineer or Forest Industry Engineering Master's degree.

Students who successfully complete the program are awarded a Doctor (Forest Industrial Engineering) doctorate diploma.

Admission Requirements

To be a graduate of a department or faculty that meets the "Graduation Prerequisites for Application to Graduate Programs" determined by the Graduate Education Institute Board and approved by the Artvin Çoruh University Senate. ALES (Nature Science) determined by the Graduate Education Institute Board and approved by the ACU Senate. and have a Foreign Language base score (Application and Entry Conditions for ACU Graduate Education Institute Graduate Programs). Students accepted to the program from outside the field are required to participate in the Scientific Preparation Program and be successful in the courses determined by the Institute Board.

Graduation Requirements

Having taken at least 21 credits (equivalent to 60 ECTS) of the courses available in the graduate programs of the department or other related departments and successfully completed all of them, obtained a weighted GPA of at least 3.0 out of 4.00, and had the thesis prepared in a field related to the subject by a selected jury. Students who successfully defend themselves in front of the University are awarded a Master's degree in the field of FOREST INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING.

After meeting the requirements for the degree to be earned, students must meet the publication requirement specified in the Thesis Submission Conditions for Graduate Education Institute Doctoral Program Students in order to graduate.

History

The Department of Forest Industrial Engineering started education in 2008 and produced its first graduates in 2012. With the establishment of the Institute of Science and Technology in 1999, the Department of Forest Industrial Engineering was included within the Institute. The Department of Forest Industrial Engineering gave its first master's degree in 2012. The Doctoral Program of the Department of Forest Industrial Engineering was opened to education in 2022 within our university. Department of Forest Industrial Engineering has the following departments: Wood Mechanics and Technology Department, Forest Biology and Wood Preservation Technology Department, Forest Industry Machinery and Management Department, Forest Products Chemistry and Technology Department.

Master's and PhD graduates of the Department of Forest Industrial Engineering can have many job opportunities in the state and private sector companies. Graduates can find employment at entry or mid-level with a good starting salary and opportunities for advancement. Employers range from very small firms to large international firms, and businesses can be found in both developed regions and rural areas. The interdisciplinary structure of the program gives graduates the opportunity to continue their professional careers in areas of the forest products industry such as production, wood surface treatments, product design, quality control, sales and marketing.

Exams, Assessment and Evaluation

Students are subjected to a midterm exam, midterm work (project, seminar, quiz, homework, or a second midterm exam) and a final exam for each course. The contribution of the midterm exam to the success grade is 40%, and the contribution of the final exam is 60%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. Students who receive one of the letter grades (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) from a course are considered to have succeeded that course.

Program Profile

The main goal of the Department of Forest Industrial Engineering is; Defining, explaining, applying and making decisions about the basic principles of four sub-departments (Wood Mechanics and Technology Department, Forest Biology and Wood Preservation Technology Department, Forest Industry Machinery and Management Department, Forest Products Chemistry and Technology Department). To train biologists who have the knowledge and skills to teach and teach, and who have the title of engineer and all the authorities and responsibilities provided by law.

Qualification Requirements

In addition to Forest Industrial Engineering undergraduate graduates, applications from different disciplines can be made for the quota to be opened outside the field.
